News and Awesome

Whew! It has been a long time since the blog has been updated, hasn't it?

Just a quick update to let you all know that the website is currently down because we're launching a new webstore! We're super excited about it, but it's a huge bummer that the site is down. Cross your fingers; we're hoping to have it back up tonight!

In related news, our very new Roy G Biv collection is now available: six vibrant shades inspired by the colors of the rainbow. Check them out!

Tie the Knot: wedding-inspired eye & lip palette

Wedding Season is upon us! If you have a wedding in your future, you're going to love our latest product:

Tie the Knot is a gorgeous palette of three eyeshadows, one eyeliner, and a lipcolor. Slip the slim palette into your Maid of Honor's purse on the big day, or into your own on other days you want a soft, classic look.

What's inside:

Lipcolor: Honeymoon

A sheer, barely-there kiss of romantic color. Easy to apply with the included brush, and just sheer enough to not leave a stain on the many people you'll be kissing - from your grandma's cheek to your groom's lips.

Mineral Eyeliner: Garter
This eyeliner is a soft black that subtly enhances your eyes when smudged ever-so-slightly into the lash line. If you want something a little more sultry and dramatic, go ahead and wing it out! Everyone knows that you can't go wrong with a classic, black liner. To use: wet an angled eyeliner brush and swirl lightly on the surface of the makeup. Apply a narrow line to your lash line. Layer as needed for more drama.

Mineral Eyeshadow: Champagne
With subtle shimmer and maybe a few bubbles, Champagne is going to be your new go-to color. It's not very dramatic (unlike your future in-laws, amiright?) but hey, your wedding is about looking gorgeous, soft, and natural.

Mineral Eyeshadow: Bouquet
Bouquet is a soft pink with an *almost* iridescent peach sheen. This eyeshadow is a pleasant surprise when smudged into your crease, or a breathtakingly lovely whole-lid color.

Mineral Eyeshadow: Diamond Bling
You know that half the fun of your engagement and wedding is the rock on your left hand! Diamond Bling was designed to highlight your brow bone and bring light to your eyes. This color catches the light in photographs amazingly. Pro tip: I have even used a tiny bit of this as a highlighter over my blush for an extra dewy look. Try it out; you'll see!

Each palette includes two dual-sided brushes for easy application. It will come packaged in a lovely little box; perfect for gift giving or simply treating yourself.

Normally $25, Tie the Knot is on sale for $20 for a limited time!

Winner! Name That Collection Contest

There were some seriously awesome entries for the Name Your Collection contest!  A big thank you to everyone who twetted and retweeted and blogged and facebooked about it.  You guys are the best!

Let me give you a sampling of some of the amazing collections!

Cassie of Shabby Makeup and More named her collection "Shabby Chic" and gave us some muted, pretty pastels.

Cassondra of Mama's Passions gave us a collection inspired by steamy summer romance, with names like "Luster", "Bare Skin", and "Midnight Kiss".  Love it!

Kattatonic Fierceology (awesome blog name, by the way) came up with a collection inspired by Jeffree Star.  Here are two particularly lovely examples:

It was very hard for me to narrow them all down, so I had to pick a runner up....

The runner-up is Fierce Nerditude, with her seriously hilarious collection "Say What?!" named after mis-heard song lyrics.  The name and description that really made me LOL was:

Does It Make A Difference If We're Naked Or Not?A reference to Bon Jovi's 'Livin' On A Prayer.' While the real line is "Does it make a difference if we make it or not?" that's so not what I heard. Fun fact: a friend of mine swears up and down that he thought he heard "(Whoa) We're half-gay bears,/(Whoa-oh) Livin' on eclairs," but I think that's probably way too long. Also, I don't really believe him (even if I did nearly die laughing when he sang it for me).

I think this would be fun as a peachy yellow with a bit of a nude pink shift.

AND THE WINNERS ARE:

The Rose Lady with her collection called The Color Police, inspired by things overheard while listening to the police scanner (LOL!) Names like "Illegal Use of Explosives", "Lewd Conduct", and "Suspicious Person" had me giggling out loud.

AND

Snarky P with a collection that poses a question: which creature would survive the apocalypse?  Humans, Lycans, Wizards, and Bugs (yes, bugs!) are all candidates, but I think that the loveliest sounding one is "Faeries: Rainbow iridescence, shimmer and twinkles, in a pale pink base."

Congratulations, Snarky and Anne!  I'll be creating your collections and shipping them to you both as soon as possible!  Please email me with your mailing address: natalie (at) gmail (dot) com.

News and Awesome

Hello fellow Bokeh Faces!

We're super excited about presenting all of the entries for the Name That Collection contest!  The winning collection is going to be amazing, but it's going to be very hard to pick amongst all of the other fabulous entries!

(New Eyeshadow: No. 125 Dirty Bird)

Just an update regarding our ingredients:

All of the Bokeh Face eyeshadow now includes another fantastic ingredient called Kaolin Clay. In cosmetics, it helps with adhesion and oil absorbtion (gals with oily eyelids; this one's for you!)  We have found that it helps immensely with the staying power of our eyeshadows, and plan to include it in future foundation formulations as well.

Each listing in the shop will be updated to include this magic ingredient, as well.

Also on the agenda:

New Featherweight Foundation formulas, including a larger range of shades and ones with heavier coverage and for oilier skin.  We'd love to get feedback on what you're all looking for in a foundation! Leave it in the comments!

Bokeh Face Birthday Club - sign up for our email newsletter and receive a FREE Birthday Cake eyeshadow on your birthday, along with other perks and discounts.  More information coming soon!

Name That Collection Contest

Introducing: An exciting new contest for Bokeh Face Fans in two easy steps!

YOU get to name the next Bokeh Face eyeshadow collection!

Step 1:  Tell me about your new collection in the comments.  Name up to 10 eyeshadows.  What is the inspiration behind it?  What do you envision when you imagine it?  Why did you pick what you did?  Get creative, and feel free to go into more depth on your personal site.  Just remember to include a link!

Step 2:  Blog, tweet, or facebook about this contest.  Leave a link in your comment, as well.

The winning entry will have a collection of eyeshadow designed and named around their idea.

Here's the best part:  the winner will receive the entire collection as a prize.

That's 10 original, fabulous Bokeh Face eyeshadows designed for YOU.  Just for sharing your vision.

The entries will be judged on their originality, humor, eccentricity... basically whichever I think is the best.  The collection will be available for sale in the Bokeh Face store (both as individual pieces and as a collection).

Entires will be closed on May 1, 2011.  Happy Naming!

ETA more details:  The collection will be loose powder eyeshadows, and there is no minimum number.  Although, I've always been a believer of "more is better" when it comes to eyeshadow colors ;-)  Also, you DO NOT have to choose the colors, although you certainly can if you want.

Manda of Toxid-Lotus.net has always posted amazing pics and swatches of everything she's ordered from me, and this was no exception.

I'm adding these (and some others) to the Swatches Page.  As always, if you take pics of swatches, looks, or even just post a review, let me know so I can link you!

There's no promo code or anything like that - the item will be included automatically if it's over $20.
